A selection of “blue” circles are derived from 22 lizard individuals (two per column). The belly, or “patch”, color of each individual is recorded at 5 different temperatures following a sprint trial. The research, conducted by Christopher D. Robinson and Dr. Matthew E. Gifford at the University of Central Arkansas, considers the cause, and evolutionary implications, of this dynamic coloration.
